Tuesday – 26th January

• A pair of companies has announced plans to build a network of hubs to generate, store and provide hydrogen fuel across the UK.

Wednesday – 27th January

• The BBC has recorded an episode of its nature programme Winterwatch powered by hydrogen generated from renewable energy. The programme previously used diesel generators.

• Almost 100 MW of solar power generation has received planning approval at 2 sites in England.

Thursday – 28th January

• In 2020, electricity generation from renewable energy exceeded that from coal and natural gas combined for the first time over the course of a year. Renewable energy includes wind, solar, hydro-power and biomass combustion.

Friday – 29th January

• BBC reports plans to expand floating offshore wind turbine system offshore NE England. The article suggests UK is leading in floating offshore wind technology which means turbines can be built in deeper water.

Saturday – 30th January

• The Chair of the Committee on Climate Change has written to the Minister for Community and Local Government, critical of the department’s acceptance of planning approval of a new coal mine in NW England.
