Monday – 17th June

• The headline predicts an end of natural gas but the article describes hydrogen being generated from natural gas.

• Scottish Royal Society has published results of a 2-year study into the future of energy in Scotland considering the economy and the environment. A heavily covered report outlines a number of options but is honest about challenges of options available including costs.

• Yorkshire power plant Drax is investigating the option of using emissions from biomass power generation to make protein for fish food or to put Carbon Dioxide into beer.

Wednesday – 19th June

• Article criticises UK use of biomass for electricity generation as a renewable resource.

• China has more solar electricity generation than any other country. Expected to double USA capacity in 5 years.

Thursday – 20th June

• Renewable resources contributed a higher proportion of UK power generation than coal and gas during 2019 so far.

• North Sea production efficiency continues to climb for sixth year. At 75%, target is 80% by 2022. Efficiency was 60% in 2012.

Saturday – 22nd June

• Plans to build a fourth UK Liquid Natural Gas import plant on the Clyde has met local opposition.
