It was a quiet week for UK energy news. I have included a couple of relevant charts below. The first (from World Bank) shows UK energy levels compared with Germany and France. UK decline matches onset of global recession.
The second chart from Guardian/Carbon Brief shows UK carbon emissions decline tracking decline in energy.
Thursday – 18th April
- Solar Power Portal describes growth in solar power. Still not economic at domestic scale but growing from New Build policy. More economic for larger rooftops.
- Article describes the case for hydrogen in heating and transport. UK currently has 20 hydrogen fuelling stations accessible to the public for vehicles. Growth requires increase in vehicles. Vehicles require fuel points.
